Das Eider-Sperrwerk - Luftbild | Um die Sicherheit zu erhöhen, sind in jeder der fünf 40-Meter-Öffnungen zwei Tore eingebaut – ein sogenanntes Doppelhubsystem. Dies gewährleistet eine doppelte Deichsicherheit. Die Tore werden vom Leitstand aus überwacht und gesteuert, wobei Computer die Pegelstände von Nordsee, Eider und Treene kontinuierlich analysieren.
